My home on the web serves two purposes – to showcase my work and to encourage others who want a fresh start. Reinvention should be my middle name at this point, but it’d require me to have a different domain!
In my 20s, I was a stereotypical homeschooling American mom to a half dozen children. In my 30s, I pursued a midwifery career (as a now single mom)and built a business from the ground up. I also added another child to the half dozen. In my 40s, my husband and I decided to relocate across the pond (hello, Wales!) and then welcomed our 8th, and last, child. My midwifery business behind me I decided to put my true love of writing and marketing on the front burner.
I know what it is like to look at your future and see a blank canvas. I know what it is like to juggle the needs of everyone around you. I also know what it is like to use those quiet after-bedtime hours to squeeze in as much productivity (and coffee!) as possible. I do one-on-one coaching for those just getting started. If you’d like to see if we can work together, drop me a line and let me know your goals. All dreams welcome.
Back in early February 2018 I wrote the following:
I’d be unstoppable if I could:
1)Sleep like a normal person (not one of those folks that posts on Facebook about how they’re not sleeping– MAYBE it’s because YOU’RE STARING AT A PHONE SCREEN?!)
2)Go to the bathroom when I need to instead of only when I can sneak away from separation-anxiety-girl and always-destructive-boy?
3)Get an uninterrupted hour to myself daily.
None of those is likely to happen so we’re doing the workaround. In this blog, I will share what I’m doing to hit my goals while doing the sahm thing. By the way, for everyone who gushes about how its the most rewarding job ever as they go off to the office daily where they can have lunches with coworkers or drink an *entire* cup of coffee without reheating it twice… all of those people are lying.
I’ve been a SAHM and I’ve been a working out of the home mom. I felt rewarded in BOTH situations, just in different ways. As a working mom I still did the parenting and enjoyed loads of sweet moments, but I also got to embrace myself as a person – use my brain, meet people (and not just soft play interactions) and felt like I was moving towards a goal.
SAHM life can be SAME life but you can forward progress yourself.
This blog isn’t just for stay at home moms, or dads, or grandmothers, it’s for anyone that knows it is time to reinvent themselves. I’ve done this twice over, the third time is a charm!
Join me and we’ll do it together.
Since that time I have gone on to sell articles, learn HTML/CSS/JS, and seriously dug into editing my *almost* 80,000-word novel. I’ve mentored other women who are starting their dream businesses. I have cried over those days when I felt like I didn’t have enough hours, ever. I have cheered on the nights when both littles went to bed by 7:30 and I knew I’d have hours to work. My youngest is finally sleeping through the night and that alone has helped me feel like a new person.
It is hard work. To become a midwife I gave up practically all of my leisure time and had one focus — to build a successful career so I could support myself and my children. Times are not as bleak this go-around, but it hasn’t decreased my motivation.

The podcast will be published soon, I am working on a back catalog before putting them up. I hope you enjoy! But even more, I hope you roll up your sleeves and start creating your own FORWARD PROGRESS.
